Jones to Incorporate the Everton Way

Chad Jones, assistant men's soccer coach at Millikin University and trainer for MidState Soccer Club, traveled to Liverpool, England in May for a 5-day tour of the English Premier League’s Everton Football Club. Everton is one of the oldest and most renowned soccer clubs in the world. Founded in 1878, the club shares its unique player development approach called The Everton Way, through which players achieve the highest levels of play, from “schoolboy to professional player.”  During his visit, Chad was able to experience first-hand the Everton Academy process. “The Everton Way works with youth to enhance skills development, build confidence, and make sure kids have fun playing the game.  I plan to incorporate a lot of the Everton strategies in my upcoming training programs at MidState. Our club's mission is already similar to Everton’s – to offer opportunities for players to reach the highest levels possible for each individual. This fall, we’ll work even more on ball skills and ball movement and give our players more ‘weapons in their arsenal’ of techniques."
